Bahri taps NMA to train Saudis in maritime sector

Bahri, a Saudi provider of logistics and transportation services, has announced inking a training services agreement with the National Maritime Academy (NMA) to train and upskill Saudi youth in the maritime sector. The agreement further consolidates Bahri’s role in local talent development in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The agreement was signed at Bahri’s headquarters in Riyadh. Bahri was represented by its CEO, Abdullah Aldubaikhi, while NMA was represented by its managing director, Capt. Turki Alshihri, in the presence of high-profile executives from both parties.

“The cooperation with NMA was driven by the academy’s experience in the field of human resources development,” said Aldubaikhi, noting that this extensive experience allows for providing training programs that guarantee achieving remarkable results that meet Bahri’s expectations.

“Bahri devotes considerable attention to training Saudi youths and developing their skills and competencies in the maritime sector, with the aim of promoting the maritime sector in Ƶ in line with the Saudi Vision 2030,” he added.

Capt. Alshihri said: “This agreement plays an essential role in promoting the scientific, professional, and vocational levels of Saudi youths, and establishes a culture of training, upskilling, and continuous development among youths and corporate employees.”

He added: “NMA offers fully integrated advanced and well-proven training programs that bridge the gap in skills in the maritime sector and prepare a highly qualified ‘job-ready’ talent pool.”

Under the agreement, NMA will provide the training programs in its training facility in Jubail, or any other NMA-approved academy/ training institute in Ƶ. NMA will also provide training utilizing all the required curriculum, instructional technology, and equipment to carry out the programs effectively throughout the three-year training period. The programs will cover the academic and vocational training for maritime trades stated in the agreement.

According to the agreement, Bahri will commit to signing full-time employment contracts with the sponsored trainees before commencing the program. The successful completion of the programs will be a basic requirement for the employment contract between Bahri and the trainees.

NMA is a nonprofit national training academy that delivers world-class theoretical and practical training, and related professional services in the maritime sector. NMA is mandated with developing the knowledge and competencies of Saudi youths and equipping them with market relevant skills for employment in fields such as shipbuilding and repair, nautical science, marine engineering, and maritime employment. NMA’s programs are supported by the Saudi Human Resources Development Fund, and approved by the Transport General Authority and the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
